Obituary of Ulla B. Larsen

Ulla B. Larsen, 86, of 3530 N. Main Street, Ext. Jamestown, died Sunday March 4, 2018, in her home. She was born July 28, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Ake Ljunqvist and Greta Ljunqvist Neilson. Ulla was raised in Boras, Sweden and came to the United States in 1953 via the Gripsholm of the Swedish American Line. Her first occupation was as an au pair working for the esteemed Rockefeller family. By the late 50's she was employed by Bachrach Studios in Midtown Manhattan where she learned photography. In 1975 after living in New York City for over 20 years, she moved with her family to Longmeadow, MA where she continued her career in photography and found a new passion, catering. In 1979 the family relocated to Jamestown, NY where she and her husband established Ulla's Catering and Ulla's Restaurant located in the Commons Mall. Throughout her later years Ulla continued to cater at Chautauqua Institution for well known acts such as The Almond Brothers, The Beach Boys, Arlo Guthrie, Paul Anka and others. Her love for family and her passion for food will always be remembered. Surviving are two sons, Peter (Vicki) Larsen of Jamestown and John (Olivia) Larsen of Southampton, NY; three step children Lisa Stannard of Carlsbad, CA, Ellen Little of Manhattan, NY and Kenneth Larsen of Jamestown; four grandchildren Lindsay Dahlin, Patricia and Joseph Bell and Olivia Sophia Larsen and three siblings Dolores Bergquist, Lars Jivero and Berith Silvers. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Larsen in 1985. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
