Obituary of David L. Bloom

David L. Bloom. 78, of 27 Harris Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, in Warren Manor, Warren, PA, following a brief illness. A Jamestown resident for most of his life, he was born September 29, 1939 in Warren, PA, a son of the late Harry I. Bloom. David was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School and also graduated from Jamestown Community College. Before his retirement, he was employed by the Alcoa Machine Shop in Randolph, NY for several years. In previous years he had worked for the former Crescent Tool Company and the former Jamestown Perforators, Inc. He was a member of the Tree of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir for Immanuel Lutheran Church for several years and also sang in the Viking Male Chorus. He was a polio survivor and belonged to the polio survivor's group in Jamestown. He enjoyed boating, hunting, photography and spending time outdoors taking pictures of the sunset and other scenic views. Surviving are his two sons; Richard (Joann Kohler) Bloom, Jeffery (Susanne) Bloom and his two grandsons; Jordon Bloom and Karson Bloom all of Jamestown, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Sally LaMar Bloom, whom he married August 3, 1963 and who died February 23, 2014. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Tara Lamont Eastman, pastor of the Tree of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Tree of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 556 East Second St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
