Obituary of Harry J. Stauffer

Harry J. Stauffer, 87, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.

He was the husband of Clara Hartzell Stauffer, whom he married February 25, 1953.

Harry was born March 1, 1931 in Huey, Pa., a son of the late Harry and Dorothy Sharer Stauffer, and was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran.

He was employed by Weber-Knapp for 35 years, earlier in the foundry and later as foreman.

Harry was a 50 year member of the Ira Lou Spring Post 149 American Legion, and additionally the War Vets Recreation.

Always a sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Harry was also a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.

In addition to his wife Clara, surviving is a daughter, Carol Hanson of Jamestown and two sons, Roger (Linda) Bish of Kennedy and Harry (Debbie) Stauffer of Jamestown; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Stauffer of Jamestown and sister, Elaine Shoup of Arizona.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a sister, Violet Stauffer and brother, Con Stauffer.

A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all three shifts of the entire staff at Heritage Park for their wonderful care.
