Janet C. Lindell, 45, of Lakewood, NY, passed away at 6:50 am Thursday, August 5, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family following a long courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong area resident, she was born August 14, 1975, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of Ronald S. and Kathryn "Kate" Blood Johnson. Janet was a 1993 graduate of Southwestern Central School and earned her Associates Degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She was currently working as a teacher's aide for special education for the Southwestern Central School System, where she was loved by her special needs students and staff. She will be remembered as a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, sister, and aunt who loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed attending her children's many activities and her greatest joy was her family. She really enjoyed being outdoors and appreciating nature. She was also very active in numerous high school sporting activities while at Southwestern. Surviving are her parents, Ronald and Kate Johnson of Ashville, NY, her husband of 23 years, James E. Lindell, whom she married August 29, 1998, her three children; Tyler (Emily Rensel) Cappa of Las Vegas, NV, Callie Lindell, and Andrew Lindell both at home, her three siblings; Maggie Testa of Erie, PA, Jessie (Chris) Certo of Lakewood, NY, Andrew (Lindsey) Johnson of Westfield, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Sherwood and Ruth Johnson, her maternal grandparents, Paul E. and Elizabeth Blood, her uncles, Roger Johnson, David Blood and her aunt, Molly Blood Westover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, August 9, 2021, in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Paul Cygan, parochial vicar of St. James will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Janet Lindell Scholarship Fund, c/o Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St. Jamestown, NY 14701. This scholarship will be given to a graduating Southwestern Central School senior who wishes to major in special education.
