Obituary of Howard R. Hendrickson

An area resident all of his life, he was born April 22, 1926 in Fluvanna, a son of the late John and Gertrude Hendrickson, and later served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. For 44 years he was employed by the former Maddox Table and retired from Union-National in 1993. Howard was a life member, past president and past historian of the Fluvanna Fire Department. He was also a charter member of the Bemus Point VFW Post #557, Ira Lou Spring Post #149 American Legion and the War Vets Recreation. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Johnson Hendrickson whom he married December 12, 1947; a daughter, Judy (Adrian) Davis Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren: Kelly (Michael) McLanahan of Indianapolis and Christopher (Angela) Mealy of Muncie, IN; a sister-in-law, Lillian Mae Johnson of Warsaw, NY; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Chloe Myriah. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and George Hendrickson; and a sister, Svea Larson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Mr. Hendrickson's nephew, Robert Johnson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
