Obituary of Joseph S. Pavolko

Joseph S. "Joe" Pavolko, 76, of 48 Boulevard Ave. Celoron died at 5:05 a.m. Friday (March 12, 2010) in the emergency room of W.C.A. Hospital. An area resident for most of his life he was born March 30, 1933 in Albion, PA a son of the late Joseph and Mary Barnowski Pavolko. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from April 1, 1953 to November 24, 1956. Before his retirement he was employed by the former Falconer Glass Industries for 26 years. He was a member of the Celoron Moose Lodge, the War Vets Recreation Club, and a former member of the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion. He also served on the planning board for the village of Celoron. He will be remembered as one who had a natural "green thumb". He loved spending time in his garden tending to his flowers and vegetables. In previous years he enjoyed playing golf in his spare time. Surviving are his wife the former Ellen Weaver Arnold Pavolko whom he married July 29, 1994, three daughters Sandra (Carl) Swanson of Ashville, Sue Pavolko of Albion, PA, Debbie Pavolko of AL, three son's Dana (Nancy) Pavolko of Ashville, Craig (Robin) Pavolko of Dorset, OH, Joseph Pavolko of AL, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and four sisters MaryAnn Wheeler, Alice Bateman both of Girard, PA, Pat Redman of AZ, Kathy Owens of Albion, PA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife JoAnn A. Pavolko who died December 17, 1989 and a grandson Trevor S. Swanson who died October 4, 1998 The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Scott Smith, associate pastor of the Busti Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
