Obituary of Leontine H. Wells

Leontine H. "Tina" Wells, 87, of 72 Avalon Blvd. WE, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 with family by her side. Born June 24, 1922 in St. Truiden, Belgium, she met her late husband, Loren Wells, during World War II and became a 'war bride' on July 12, 1946. Together they brought their two children to the United States following the war in 1949. For many years Tina and Loren owned and operated several area restaurants. In the 1950's they owned the Savoy Restaurant in Jamestown and later Anderson's Restaurant in Falconer. They retired in 1979 after operating the Savoy Restaurant in Warren, Pa. Following retirement, Tina ran the snack shop at the former Jamestown General Hospital for a number of years. Her greatest love was caring for her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was well known for the cookies and pies that she baked, and her knit afghans and sweaters for family and friends were always well received. Tina was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanine (Raymond) Fashano of Jamestown and Mary (Richard) Stineman of Gerry; three grandchildren: Martin (Beth) Stockwell and Dean (Cameo) Stockwell of Jamestown, and Jon (Kelly) Stineman of Chicago; and three great-grandchildren, Allison, Jenna and Andre Stockwell. In addition to her husband who passed away on January 27, 1995, she was also preceded by a grandson, James Stockwell in 1989 and a granddaughter, Christa Stineman in 1993. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. John P. Saraka will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Tina's family suggests memorials may be made to the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Ney-Stineman Memorial Scholarship Fund, 418 Spring St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
