Obituary of Geraldine A. Roos

Geraldine A. Roos, 85, formerly of Cherry St. Frewsburg and Jamestown, NY passed away Thursday (February 25, 2010) in the Erie County Home, Alden, NY, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. She was born August 2, 1924 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Frank and Elvira Herbstriet Jandrew. During her years in Jamestown she had been employed by several area businesses including the former Jamestown Plywood Corporation, the former Sherman Brothers and had also worked as a waitress in several area restaurants over the years. In previous years was a communicant of the Holy Apostles Parish at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Surviving is a daughter Connie (Richard) DeVita of Alden, NY, three granddaughters Lisa Ann (Chip) Willis of Darien Center, NY, Pamela Anne Zawistowski of Buffalo, Marie DeVita of Rochester, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a sister Frances Lofgren of Jamestown Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Roos and a brother Theodore Jandrew. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led by Rev. Mende at 4:45 p.m. Sunday.
