Obituary of Leon A. Slojkowski

Leon A. "Scott" Slojkowski, Jr., 67, of 72 Pennsylvania Ave, Jamestown and The Villages, FL, died Thursday January 14, 2010, in WCA Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Inverness, Scotland, he was born April 27, 1942, the son of Leon A. and Georgina Campbell Slojkowski, Sr. He was a 1960 graduate of Fredonia High and later graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business Institute in 1961. He was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1962-64. In 1970 he began co-ownership and operation of Hanson Cartage, Falconer, until his retirement in 2004. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of Vikings. He enjoyed golfing and flying his remote control airplane, particularly while spending winters in Florida. Surviving are his wife the former Suzzanne Rose, whom he married December 29, 1962, a daughter Lori (Jeff) Morrow of Wauwatosa, WI, a son Leon (Christina) Slojkowski, III of Jamestown, three grandchildren Joshua and Caitlin Morrow and Owen Slojkowski, a sister Grace Kensey of Jamestown, a niece Holly (Neil) Dobson of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and great nieces Emma and Alexa Dobson. He was preceded in death by his father August 2, 2004 and his mother January 8, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Darrell Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228.
