Obituary of Gary A. Rupert

Gary A. Rupert, 73, of 2748 Bentley Ave. Jamestown died unexpectedly at 10:48 a.m. Sunday (December 13, 2009) in his home. An area resident for most of his life he was born May 13, 1936 in Bradford, PA a son of the late George and Jean Neilly Rupert. He was a graduate of the Bemus Point School System and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1954 to 1955 during the Korean War. Before his retirement in 1997 he was a truck driver for Hall Motor Transport for several years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local # 649 and was a member of the War Vets Recreation Club. Surviving is a granddaughter Melissa Taylor of Jamestown, three nephews Steven W. Goold of Georgetown, ME, Robert A. Goold of Bemus Point, Gary Sharp of San Diego, CA, and his niece Julie L. Goold Town of Greenhurst. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Jeannie Moore Rupert whom he married May 18, 1955 and who died January 11, 1995 and his sister Barbara J. Goold who died August 9, 2006 and a step-son Rick Wright who died in 1986 A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer, pastor of the Fluvanna Community Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery. Friends will be received for one half hour prior to the service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society or the Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department.
