Obituary of Donna K. Erickson

Donna Kraft Erickson, 71, of 166 Connecticut Ave., died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in WCA Hospital. She was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Jamestown, a daughter of Philip A. and Marjorie Folkins Kraft. She was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School and had been active on the committees of each reunion of the class. She was employed by the Bank of Jamestown from 1956-59; Associated Truck Line, Angola, IN from 1959 to 1960 while her husband was in college; J. E. Erickson & Associates from 1972 to 1998 where she served as secretary; and Abate Engineering where she had a similar role from 1998 until her retirement in 2003. In addition she was an election inspector for over 20 years. She was a member of numerous organizations, including the Jayncees from 1960-1973 and had served terms as local president and state vice president; Jamestown High School Music Boosters, including chaperoning a trip to London, England, with the ACappella Choir and to the Festival of States, St. Petersburg, Fla. with the matching band, Norden Women's Club, Shrine Club Auxiliary, Jamestown Scottish Rite Auxiliary, Thule Lodge, the Waterways Knitting Guild and Mt. Sinai-Mecca Chapter OES. A member of Christ First United Methodist Church, she was active in United Methodist Women, as a communion steward, served on the staff-parish relation committee and was treasurer of the Cornerstone District Trustees. Surviving are her husband Jerome E. Erickson with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary September 19, 2009, two daughters Vicki L. (Scott) Kindberg of Jamestown and Susi M. (Pastor Jim) Pegan of Findley Lake, a son William E. (Sonja) Erickson of North East, Pa., four grandchildren Jimmy and Katiann Pegan of Findley Lake and Eric and Jeremy (Brittany) Dahlgren of Jamestown, a step grandson Matthew Kindberg of Jamestown and a great granddaughter Isis Dahlgren of Jamestown, two sisters Lynda (Richard) Tanner of Jamestown and Janis Davis of Celoron and her beloved cocker spaniel, Maddie. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Phyllis Ann Mazzone in 1989. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Christ First United Methodist Church. Rev. Douglas M. Knopp will officiate assisted by Pastor Jim Pegan. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
