Obituary of George E. Hinson

George E. Hinson, Sr, 83, of Ellicott Shores Apartments, Marine Park Dr, Celoron, formerly of 415 W. Eighth St, passed away at 5:30 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2009 in the WCA Hospital. A native of Jamestown he was born January 9, 1926 the son of Joseph and Frances Tate Hinson. Mr. Hinson attended the Jamestown School System and was a veteran serving in the US Navy during World War II from March 20, 1944 until his discharge as a Fireman First Class on June 17, 1946. He was a machinist at MRC Corporation for 36 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church, War Vets Rec, Henry Mosher Post #638 American Legion, Falconer, the former AMVETS Thomas G. Stone Post #1996 and AMVETS Memorial Post #726. Surviving are 2 sons Joseph W. (Bonnie) Hinson and Richard O. (Jeryl) Hinson all of Greenhurst; 3 daughters Eleanor J. "Sister" Hinson of Studio City, CA, Melodye A. "DeeDee" Hinson of Sun City West, AZ, and Cheryl L. Hinson of West Ellicott; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister Carolyn Doran of Buffalo; and a brother Clarence (Florence) Hinson of Jamestown. Mr. Hinson was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Wiley Hinson whom he married October 2, 1948 and passed away April 21, 2003; a son George E. Hinson, Jr who passed away March 25, 2001; and 4 sisters Gertrude Cunningham, Mary Hinson, Judith Sykes, and Marjorie Richards. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Annette Hood, pastor of Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church and Rev. Leroy Walker, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. No visitation will be observed.
