Obituary of Carolyn M. Volgstadt

Carolyn M. Volgstadt, 71, of 630 Palmer St. in Jamestown, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 31, 2009 in the Hamot Medical Center. She was born August 1, 1937 in Erie, Pa., a daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Gottschilling Heberlein, and was the widow of the late George M. Volgstadt whom she married January 29, 1955 and who died February 26, 2002. Carolyn was presently employed by the Fountain Bowl where she had worked since 1984. She also enjoyed gardening and walking. Most importantly, Carolyn's family will remember her love for all of her grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Deborah (Sam) Bellavia of Shamokin, Pa. and Rebecca (Kevin) DeMarco of Jamestown; thirteen grandchildren: Stephen (Shelley) Bellavia of Chesapeake, VA, Timothy (Rebecca) Bellavia of Auburn, PA, Sharon Bellavia of Shamokin, James (Victoria) Turner of Jamestown, Michael Turner of Colorado, Benjamin, Michael and Joshua DeMarco of Jamestown, Cassandra (Joshua) See of Jamestown, Michele (Andy) Palazzo of Reading, VT and Jenny Volgstadt, Drew Volgstadt and Wesley James Anderson, all of Frewsburg; twelve great grandchildren: Lillian, Cale and Kayden Turner, Anthony DeMarco, Emily and Andrew See, Dominick and Dylan DeMarco, Caleb and Dominick Palazzo, and Gianna and Anthony Bellavia; a daughter-in-law, Karen Volgstadt Anderson (Wesley) of Frewsburg; and sister Ruth May of Erie, PA and brother, Dale (Linda) Heberlein of Lakeland, FL. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, George A. Volgstadt who died in 1995 and Douglas M. Volgstadt who died in 1978; an infant daughter in 1957; and two brothers, Russell and Clinton Heberlein. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Samuel Bellavia will officiate. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
