Obituary of Kevin A. Williamson

Kevin Alan Williamson, 57, of Jamestown, NY departed from this life on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in his home surrounded by the love of his family, friends and pets after a lengthy illness. Kevin was born February 15, 1953 in Jamestown to the late Marvin (Red) Williamson and Marjorie (Ice) Williamson Hurlburt. Kevin was a 1971 graduate of Jamestown High School, a member of Braw Caddy Clan and attended Jamestown Community College. He was an employee of Lexington Die Cast, Lakewood for 26 years working his way up through the ranks from machine operator to Process Control Technician. He was a gifted singer and guitar player, carpenter and respected woodsman. Kevin loved camping in the Chautauqua gorge, backpacking, canoeing, hunting and trout fishing. He saw nature as the divine gift and was always respectful to the land and her creatures. Among family and friends, Kevin was known for his quick wit, wry sense of humor and his quiet, sweet smile. Kevin is survived by his son, Chalan C. Williamson currently of Copenhagen, Denmark, his beloved, Terry (Fardink) Lair, mother, Marjorie (Ice) Hurlburt, a sister, Lynne (Williamson) Anderson, step father Donald Hurlburt, nephew Andrew Conti, niece Allison (Anderson) Slagle, great niece Claire Conti, all of Jamestown and an uncle, Rodney Williamson (Denver, Co.). Kevin's extended family also includes step children from a former marriage to Sarah (Oneto) Williamson: Annette (Cole) Torgerson (Houston, Tx), Terri (Cole) Thompson, (Perrysburg, Oh.), Rick Cole (Houston, Texas), and Joshua Lair (Ashville, NY); step grandchildren Jessica and Jordan Thompson both of Perrysburg, Alyssa Heater, and Collin Torgerson of Houston. Step siblings include Donald Hurlburt, Jr., (Atlanta, Ga), Ronald Hurlburt (Palm Harbor, Fla) Gary Hurlburt (Sun City Center, Fla.), Judy (Hurlburt) Anderson (Fredonia, NY), Gregory Hurlburt (Jamestown) and Kathy (Hurlburt) Gladden (Orlando, Fla). He is also survived by his loving dogs Sam and Mick, a cat with the "Kevin" attitude, Ebeneezer, good friends and companions Daniel Ingalls, William Lucas, Jeffrey Kelley, Richard Babcock, Kim Atkins, George Renker and many others too numerous to name, who stood by him to the end. Thank you to the Hospice team that made his last days comfortable and who continue to provide support to family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin (Red) Williamson, uncle and mentor Jack A. Ice, another uncle, Desmond Williamson, and his dog Doc and many other dogs that he loved. At Kevin's request, a memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made at Key Bank, Lakewood, NY location in the name of the Kevin A. Williamson Memorial.
