Obituary of Betty Anne Long

Betty Anne Roman Long, 61, of 9620 Villa Dr. #5, Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of Jamestown passed away on Monday (August 23, 2010) in the Lee Memorial Hospital, Ft. Myers, FL. A Jamestown area resident for most of her life she was born September 26, 1948 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Roy S. and Beatrice Nary Roman. She was a 1966 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School. While living in Florida for the past several years, she had owned and operated Anthony's Deli, worked as a paraprofessional for the Gateway Charter School, was an Assistant Food Service Manager for the Lee County Public Schools and recently was a tax preparer for H & R Block. During her years in Jamestown she was employed as an insurance agent for the Prudential Insurance Company and the Richard C. Smith Insurance Company. She and her husband also owned and operated Patsy's Lounge on East Second St. for several years. Betty will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was a very family oriented person who remained close to her extended family over the years. Surviving are her husband Anthony B. Long, Sr. whom she married March 2, 1968, two sons Anthony B. (Melissa) Long, Jr. of Ft. Myers, Timothy (Sue) Haugh of Summerville, PA, a daughter Jody Long (David Williams) of Ft. Myers, FL, two grandchildren, Jordan and Jarrett Haugh both of Summerville, PA, two sisters, Romaine (Sidney) Sample of Jamestown, Karen (Robert) Saxton of Busti, two brothers Roy (Edna) Roman of West Ellicott, David (Terrie) Roman of Jamestown. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a nephew Steven Dilker. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy E. Ferguson, pastor of the Busti Church of God as well as Lucy Olson and Linda Zochowski of the Christian Scientist will officiate. Burial will be in the Gerry Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
