Obituary of Harold A. Bull

Harold A. "Boofer" Bull, 76, of 20 Evelyn Drive formerly of 144 Park St. Jamestown, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Thursday (September 16, 2010) in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident he was born August 22, 1934 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Walter Lee and Hazel Ayling Bull. He was a 1952 graduate of Jamestown High School where he was active as a baseball and basketball player. He also played softball for several teams in the Jamestown area softball leagues. He was also a graduate of the Erie County Technical Institute in Buffalo, NY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1957 to 1959 stationed at Ft. Belfor in VA. During his tour of duty he also played the base drum in the military band. He was a long time member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of the Vikings, the Lake wood Rod & Gun Club and the Falconer Moose Lodge # 2301. He was a former member of the Sugar Grove Rod & Gun Club, the Sugar Grove AMVETS Post # 50 the Thomas Stone Post 1996 AMVETS, and was a former member of the Viking Lodge Drum and Bugle Corp for several years. He also served as Vice Commander and Bugler for the Sugar Grove AMVETS and was a bugler for the Thomas Stone Post 1996 AMVETS in Jamestown. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and friend who loved to spend time on the family farm in Pittsfield, PA. Before his retirement he was a self employed designer owning and operating Harold A. Bull Home Design. In previous years he had worked for the former Harbison Carborundum and the former Green Brothers Lumber Company. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Maxine Carol Johanson Bull whom he married November 24, 1956, several nieces and nephews as well as his Schipperke Dog "Sassy". Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Charles J. Bull, Donald W. Bull, Ernest B. Bull and two sisters Beaulah B. Anderson, Leona B. Olson. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Chapel. The Rev. Rick LaDue, pastor of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, 385 South Main St. Jamestown, NY 14701, the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
