Obituary of Clarence W. Fain

Clarence W. "Red" Fain, 85, of Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing, formerly of 617 Pine St., died at 9:24 a.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 in WCA Hospital. An area resident most of his life, he was born in Anniston, Alabama on July 26, 1925, a son of the late General and Mae Bullock Fain. Red had been employed by the Weber-Knapp Co. for 38 years, retiring as a polisher in 1988. A member of the Gopher's Club at Heritage Green, Red was an avid fan of NASCAR and Stateline Speedway automobile racing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Helen Spinler Fain, whom he married September 20, 1947; a son, Thomas W. (Irene) Fain of Bemus Point; two daughters, Donna M. (Vincent) Proctor of Grimesland, NC and Judy M. (Kirk) Hunter of Adamsville, PA; eight grandchildren: Billy Joe Hunter, Lindsay M. Fain, Tiffany L. Frye, Brittany N. Proctor, Brandon T. Fain, Logan E. Fain, Vincent L. Proctor II and James R. Proctor; and two great grandchildren, Bailey E. Fain and Austin J. Edson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald A. Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in the Gerry Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
