Obituary of Blanche C. Venn

Blanche C. Venn, 96, of 715Falconer St. formerly of 148 Fredrick Blvd., W.E. passed away at 4:45 a.m. Thursday (November 11, 2010) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong area resident she was born April 29, 1914 in the Town of Ellicott a daughter of the late Axel and Belva Cowing Cederquist. She was a 1931 graduate of Jamestown High School. She was a long time member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and was a lifelong member of the Y.W.C.A., serving on the board of directors for several years. Blanche was employed as a bookkeeper by the former Jamestown Coca-Cola Bottling Company where she worked for 30 years. She also operated her own accounting service for several small businesses in the Jamestown area prior to her retirement. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, Gordon (Marleen) Nelson of Bemus Point, NY, David (Alice) Nelson of Frewsburg, NY, Richard (Linda) Nelson of Lehigh Acres, FL, Nancy (Richard) Wright of Vacaville, CA, Anne (Bill) Thomas of Celoron, NY, Carol (Pat) Shephard, Steven (Cheryl) Fox, Todd (Linda) Anderson all of Jamestown and Thomas Anderson of Arlington, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Venn whom she married September 21, 1947 and who died January 13, 2008 and by three sisters Ethel Nelson, Berenice Sandell and Martha Fox. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam Miller-Stubbendick interim pastor of the Bethel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 904 W.
