Obituary of Decca J. Nelson

Decca J. Nelson, 69, of 604 Prospect St. passed away peacefully at 12:05 a.m. Sunday (November 14, 2010) in W.C.A. Hospital following a brief illness and surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong area resident she was born January 6, 1941 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Paul Raymond and Rosaria Basile Genco. She was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School and before her retirement was employed in the printing department at the Jamestown Container Corporation, where she worked for 28 years. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a member of the Jamestown Elks Lodge, the Jamestown Eagles Lodge, the Falconer Moose Lodge and the Falconer Legion. She was also a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and was an avid golfer at the South Hills Country Club. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to go shopping and was an outstanding dancer. She also taught her children the love of baking and cooking. Surviving are her fianc John Williams of Jamestown, a son David Stewart of Jamestown, three daughters Denise Watson of Jamestown, Dawn Arnet of High Point, NC, Donna (Tommy) Ciancio of Bemus Point, nine grandchildren Todd (Amber) Destro of Jamestown, Jonise Destro of Tonawanda, NY, James Dolce of TX, Kassindra Arnet of Chapel Hill, NC, Kelly Arnet of High Point, NC, Joseph Arnet of High Point, NC, Jesse Hallett, Amanda Hallett both of Jamestown, Kristi Zink of Cassadaga, three great grandchildren Kailynn Destro, Amari McGaughy, Alexander Caccamise, two brothers Anthony Genco, John Genco both of Jamestown and a sister Angeline Saullo of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Donald Stewart, her second husband Robert J. Nelson who died July 31, 2003, three brothers James, Carl and Samuel Genco and four sisters Josephine Engwall, Rita Pillittieri, Mary Morrell and Ida Spitale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 pm. Tuesday.
