Obituary of Delbert H. Bullock

Delbert H. Bullock, 81, of 62 Myrtle Street, died Wednesday December 8, 2010, in WCA Hospital. An area resident all of his life, he was born March 6, 1929, in Blockville, a son of the late Chester and Tabitha Wilkerson Bullock. He was a US Army veteran serving for 6 years, four of which were in Japan and Korea. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Dahlstrom Manufacturing, Carborundum and started his career working for Inter-Royal for 21 years as a spray painter and sand blaster. He was a member of Grace Chapel, North-South Skirmish Association and 72nd N.Y. Volunteer Infantry of which he was an original member. His other memberships include Jamestown Audubon, Jamestown Police Reserves and the CB Club. He was also a Girl Scout volunteer leader for many years. He had a love of life, children and people. He enjoyed participating in Civil War competitions for over 40 years. Surviving are his wife the former Leah Marie Anderson, whom he married July 5, 1955; four children RubyAnn (Marty) White of Panama, Amanda (Bill) Damon of SanAntonio, TX, John (Dawn) Bullock of Jamestown and Leah "Corky" (Curt) Carlson of Hamilton, VA; nine grandchildren Jesse Straight, Holly Maynard, Joshua Bullock, Andrew, Alexander and Aaron Damon and Cameron, Ian and Blake Carlson; two great grandchildren Briana and Deavin Straight; a brother Lenward Bullock of Colorado Springs, CO and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters Kathleen Bullock, Iola Houghton and Mona Lundell and three brothers Elvin, Marvin and Gilbert Bullock. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. John K. Cole, one of the elders of Grace Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Camp Li-Lo-Li, 8811 Sunfish Run Road, Randolph, NY 14772.
