Obituary of Frances J. Katzenberger

Frances J. Katzenberger, 82, of Warners, NY formerly of 308 Palmer St., Jamestown, NY passed away April 13, 2011 at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Frances was born in Jamestown on April 22, 1928 and lived in Jamestown for most of her life. Frances was the youngest daughter of the late Bessie Mae and Francis J. McCulla MD. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946. She went on to get her RN degree from Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY and worked at Jamestown General Hospital and retired from Chautauqua County Health Department where she was a public health nurse. Frances volunteered for many organizations including the Red Cross, RSVP, Chautauqua County, and the Salvation Army. She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she was active with the Altar & Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. She was also a former member of Jamestown Moose and the American Legion. Frances loved being with her family and enjoyed playing golf and bowling and liked to travel. Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband Eugene Katzenberger Sr., her sister Kathleen McCulla, her son Eugene Katzenberger Jr., and her daughter-in-law Sylvia Katzenberger. She is survived by her sister Janice Tyler and children Beth Lum (Donald), Dennis Katzenberger and Richard Katzenberger. She has nine grandchildren: Craig Katzenberger (Heather), Kevin Lum, Jeffrey Lum (Kelly), Jennifer Nezelek (Donald), Julie Ruling (Jerry), Phillip Katzenberger, Amanda Case, Jacob Case and Christopher Smith, and eight great-grandchildren: Erin Lum, Olivia Macbeth, Victoria Macbeth, Preston Nezelek, Emily Ruling, Lily Ruling, Katelyn Ruling, and Samuel Lum. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday at Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 PM Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 PM Sunday, followed by a Catholic Daughters Wake Service.
