Obituary of Dustin Jay Carlson

Dustin Jay Carlson, 43, of 305 Niagara Ave. Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015, in his home.. An area resident for most of his life, he was born November 14, 1971 in Jamestown, NY, a son of Duane R. and JoAnn M. Finn Carlson, Sr. He was a 1990 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1992 graduate of Jamestown Community College. Dustin was working as an independent contractor for the past several months and had earlier worked for the Tanglewood Golf Course in Campbell, OH. He was also a substitute teacher for the Jamestown Public Schools. e was He attended the Christ First United Methodist Church and was an avid sportsman. He loved to play golf and in his youth was an accomplished baseball and softball player. He played with the Jamestown Babe Ruth League and was a member of the local Babe Ruth Baseball World Series Team. He also enjoyed playing in the church softball league. He will be remembered as a loving and caring son and brother who had a very kind heart. He was always there to help others in any way he could and was very loyal to his family and friends. Surviving are his parents Duane and JoAnn Carlson, Sr. of Jamestown, a brother, Duane R. Carlson, Jr. two sisters, Dianne Shagla and his twin Debbie Seyler all of Jamestown, his aunts and uncles, Walter and Donna Finn of West Chester, PA, Donald Carlson of Jamestown and his nieces, Heather Carlson of Erie, PA, Rebecca Russo of Jamestown and Natalie Russo of FL. He was preceded in death by his brother Daryl R. Carlson who was born April 5, 1966,( Dustin joined him in heaven on his birthday), and who died April 28, 2009, his paternal grandparents, Arvid Carlson, Edna Krudys, his maternal grandparents, Walter Finn, Sr., Cecile Plucker and his step grandfather Wesley Plucker. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Natalie Hanson, pastor of the Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
