Obituary of Myrtle S. Penhollow

Myrtle E. Spinler Penhollow, 92, of 850 North Main St., Jamestown, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in UPMC Chautauqua WCA. A lifelong area resident, she was born December 18, 1924 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late William and Grace Collins Spinler. She married Walter S. Cobbe in 1945. Before her retirement she was employed by the former Quality Markets, working at the Prendergast Ave. store for many dedicated years. She and her late husband Jim were very active in the Henry Mosher Post 638 American Legion where she was a member of the ladies auxiliary. Surviving are three sons, Daniel W. Cobbe of Gerry, NY, David H. (Connie) Cobbe of Jamestown, Thomas E (Beth) Cobbe of Dewittville, NY, 10 grandchildren, Amy Waild, Julie Cobbe, Jennifer Johnston, Mark Cobbe, Matthew Cobbe, Paul Cobbe, Herb Cobbe, Peter Cobbe, Marie Crandall, Keith Hitchcock, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Harold Spinler of Cassadaga, NY, and a sister, Helen Fain of Greenhurst, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Penhollow whom she married August 31, 1968 and who died December 26, 2005, three brothers, Charles, Willie and Walter Spinler, a sister, Mary Blood and a nephew Robert W. Spinler. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Penhollow will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Henry Mosher Post 638 American Legion, 132 West Main St. Falconer, NY 14733.
