Obituary of Richard Loy Delahoy

Richard L. Delahoy, 84, of 21 High Acres Drive, Bemus Point, NY, passed away unexpectedly at 9:56 A.M. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in the emergency room of UPMC Chautauqua WCA. A lifelong area resident, he was born September 6, 1932 in Falconer, NY a son of the late Lloyd and Martha Howard Delahoy. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1951-1955 Before his retirement he was a machinist for SKF Bearings where he worked for 38 years. He was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion and the Singles Club where he enjoyed playing cards with his many friends. Surviving are two sons, Richard K. Delahoy, Lloyd D. Delahoy both of Jamestown, two daughters, Evelyn Ferraro of Hickory, NC, Deborah (Jeff) McCarty of Cheswick,PA, seven grandchildren, James McCarty, Jeremy McCarty, Jennifer Best all of Pittsburgh, PA, Chris Kane of UT, Shawn Kane of Greenhurst, NY, Macie Delahoy, Richard L. Delahoy, II both of Jamestown, 10 ten great grandchildren and a sister, Gladys Zellers of Lebanon, PA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Belle A. Haskell Delahoy whom he married January 9, 1954 and who died October 4, 2005, three sisters, Isabelle Jacobs, Alice Stead, Beverly Prince and a brother Ronald Delahoy. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
