Obituary of Terry E. Jenkins

Terry E. Jenkins of Lakewood, NY passed away Monday, June 5, 2017, just one day after his 70th birthday. Terry passed comfortably in his own home surrounded by his family, just the way he planned. As with most things in Terry's life, he did everything his way or no way. Terry loved his family almost as much as he loved racing cars and dirty jokes. He was a lifelong member of the Lakewood Fire Department and served the community with his plumbing skills and array of talented street knowledge. Terry was also an avid animal lover and rescuer who was known to bring many homeless critters home to his adoring wife, Carol, just to tick her off. Terry will be greatly missed and his family will do their best to continue the long line of dirty jokes and laughter. Terry is survived by his wife, Carol Howard Jenkins, whom he married October 21, 1972; four children, 8 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Also surviving are five sisters and a brother, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene L. Jenkins in 2010 and mother, Mariam Sword Jenkins in 2016; and a grandson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. A Celebration of Terry's Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the family's home at 1616 Winch Road, Lakewood.
