Obituary of Charles A. Nash

Charles A. "Chuck" Nash, 89, of Chautauqua, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at home. He was born April 25, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Clarence and Florence LaGore Nash. He was a 1946 graduate of Chautauqua High School and also a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology earning his photography degree. He was a United States Army veteran and a lifetime member of the Mayville VFW Post 8647. After graduation from RIT, he worked for Kodak for six years and then owned and operated a photography studio in Chautauqua Institution. He was also a bus driver for the Chautauqua Central School. After the closure of his studio he worked at Groves Construction and Honky Tonk Construction. Before retirement, he was employed as a foreman with Local Union 621. He was a former member of Hurlbut Memorial United Methodist Church and was currently worshiping at the North Harmony United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, handcrafting many wood clocks and using his skills to build two houses. Chuck is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie L. Krotzer Nash, whom he married on August 31, 1963; four daughters: Kathleen (Don) Larson, Karen (Duane) Hultberg, Kay (Steve) Ribbing, Kristie Kelly (Victor Murphy); 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Mohler. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 in the North Harmony United Methodist Church. The Rev. Carolyn Stow, will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville. Friends will be received by the family on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. in the Lind Funeral Home.
