Obituary of Marilyn A. Anderson

Marilyn A. Anderson, 83, of Bemus Point, NY, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018. She was born March 26, 1935 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late John and Anna Johnson Danielson. Marilyn graduated from Jamestown High School in 1953 and later earned her Master's Degree in Education from Fredonia. For close to 30 years, she served as a professor of English at Jamestown Community College. She loved gardening and travel, and together with her husband, Larry, all types of cooking. Marilyn enjoyed the time she spent at the Jamestown Audubon Community Nature Center, and also treasured spending time with her husband, no matter what they were doing or where they were going. Marilyn is survived by her truly beloved and devoted husband of 60 years, Larry G. Anderson, whom she married June 28, 1957; two sons: Gary (Nancy) Anderson of North East, Pa. and David (Patty) Anderson of Saratoga Springs, NY; five grandchildren: Tyler Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, Ryan and Jacob Anderson, both of North East, Kaelan Anderson of Queens, NY, and Dylan Anderson of Baltimore, MD; and a sister-in-law, Sondra Durphy of Boston, NY and brother-in-law, Lance (Ann Marie) Anderson of Red House, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille M. Johnson in 2008 and a brother, Marvin Danielson who died in his youth. She was also preceded by her brother-in-law, Charles Everett Johnson (Lucille's husband) and brother-in-law Charles "Chuck" Durphy (Sondra's husband). The family wishes to express their thanks to Marilyn's caregivers, Sue Conti-Betker, Donna Sperry and Heather Kimpel. We would especially like to thank Sue for her incredible kindness, friendship and care of Marilyn these past few years. A private family burial service will be held in the Bemus Point Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 5th at 11 a.m. in St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Bemus Point.
