Obituary of Andrew J. Larson

Andrew J. Larson, Jr., 70, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 4:35 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, following a brief illness. A lifelong area resident, he was born April 28, 1948 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Andrew J. Larson, Sr. and Helen Krudys Larson. He was a 1966 graduate of Jamestown High School and a graduate of Jamestown Community College and the Tri-State University, with a degree in civil engineering. Andy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from May 6, 1969 to May 4, 1973 and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Before his retirement he had worked for the City of Jamestown Board of Public Utilities. In earlier years he had worked for Proto Tool Company and Bush Industries. Andy enjoyed target shooting and fishing with his father and cousin Bob. He also enjoyed spending time woodworking and was one who had a basement full of old tools. He was the type of person who loved to talk to people and enjoyed a spirited debate on almost any subject. He loved to travel to out of the way places, including six different continents and had planned trip to Antarctica. Surviving are a sister, Penny (Pete) Schmitt of Seattle, WA, his niece, Emily Schmitt of New York City, his aunt, Verna Krudys and her sons; Bill Krudys, Bob (Barb) Krudys and John Krudys. He was preceded in death by his father who died November 3, 1998 and his mother who died May 13, 2001. There are no services planned at this time.
