Obituary of Charles R. VanGuilder

Charles R. VanGuilder, Jr., 42, of 58 Dunham Avenue, passed away Saturday May 12, 2018, in Absolut of Westfield following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 8, 1975, in Jamestown, a son of Charles and Patricia Martz Van Guilder, Sr. He had been employed by The Resource Center and earlier by Jamestown Advance. He was a member of Celoron Volunteer Fire Department and Chautauqua County Haz Mat Team. He was an avid fan of Nascar and the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his parents of Falconer; fiancé Renee Davenport with whom he made his home; two children Cassandra Davenport of Jamestown and Derreck Davenport of Celoron; a brother Jamie Van Guilder of Falconer; his dog Bing and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister Christine Van Guilder in 1999 and grandparents Dean Martz, Ruby Harper, Edward Harper and Marjorie Evans. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Chaplain Peter Dawson will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
