Obituary of Charlotte W. Dracup

Charlotte W. Dracup, 93, of Jamestown, passed away at 12:41 am Saturday, May 19, 2018, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born September 13, 1924 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Lincoln Whelpley and Jessie Hill Piazza. Charlotte was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School. Before her retirement in 2000, she was a bookkeeper for the JNK Corporation and had earlier worked for the Daniel S. Dracup Company. She was a longtime member of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church and a former vice president of the New York State Jayncees. She was also a member of the Home Bureau, the Bridge Club and was a volunteer at WCA Hospital for many years. She was an accomplished china painter and enjoyed gardening, traveling and caring for her dogs. Surviving are two daughters, Claudia Sundberg of Fremont, IN, Deborah (Dennis) Swan of Lakewood, NY, two sons, David (Kay) Dracup of Jamestown, NY, Dale Dracup of Bethesda, MD, 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Dracup who died December 5, 2002, a brother, Joseph Whelpley and a sister, Barbara Cable. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Green and Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care for their love and care shown to Charlotte over the past several years. The funeral will be held at 10:00am Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Phelps, hospice chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
