Obituary of Shirley M. Smith

Shirley M. Smith, 86, of 4664 Kortwright Road, Jamestown, died Saturday May 26, 2018, in St. Vincent Healthcare Center, Erie, PA. A native of Jamestown, she was born December 21, 1931, a daughter of the late William and Emily Lyon Parsons. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting, but her greatest joy came from the many years she spent raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took great joy in all her family and extended family. Surviving are five children David (Robin) Smith of Panama, Deborah (Larry) Maloy of Ashville, Jean Smith of Busti, Randy (Elaine) Smith of Jamestown and Brett (Lisa) Smith of Sugar Grove; nine grandchildren Stephanie (Chris) Miraglia of Celoron, Christine (Paul) Munson of Ashville, Steven (Jamie Schuyler) Maloy of Lakewood, Alicia (Chris) Decker, Jacob (Danielle) Smith and Christopher Smith all of Jamestown Bradley Smith of Warren, Taylor (Kevin) Smith Lowe of Panama and Brittany Smith of Sugar Grove; seventeen great grandchildren; a sister Emily Kennelly of Jamestown; a brother Ralph Parsons of West Ellicott and two sisters in law Barb (Duane) Thorpe of Panama and Mary Lou (Malcolm) Best of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin "Sonny" Smith, whom she married September 16, 1950 and who died March 7, 2008; a brother George Parsons and two sisters in law Norma Eddy and Bernice Howard. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
