Obituary of Michael Christopher Mizner

Michael Christopher Mizner, 32, of Carrboro, NC, formerly Jamestown, NY, passed away unexpectedly June 24, 2018 in his home. He was born in Maine and moved to Frewsburg, NY when he was eight. He attended Robert H. Jackson Elementary and Frewsburg Central schools. After receiving his credentials to become a CNA, he attended and graduated from nursing school as valedictorian and became an LPN. He worked for several area nursing homes, including the Resource Center's Celoron and Foote Avenue locations. He moved to Maryland and then North Carolina where he worked for Laurels of Chapman. He had a great love of nursing and enjoyed the time spent with his patients and coworkers. Michael's love for music equaled his love of nursing. From the age of 10 starting in the school band, to age 16 creating Inanimate Objects, a band with fellow friends, to creating music until his last day, music was his passion and soul. He is survived by his loving son, Michael Johnathon Mizner of Sugar Grove, PA; his girlfriend, Misty Dawn Barts and her daughter, Aubrey of Ramseur; NC; his mother and stepfather, Paula and Norman Cooley of Jamestown; and father and stepmother, Christopher and Christina Mizner of Gray, ME. Also surviving are four sisters: Jennifer (Brock) Dean of Corry, PA, Jessica (Scott) Puglise of Lancaster, SC, and Amy Mizner and Stephanie Mizner, both of Gray, ME and a brother, Andrew Mizner of Gray, ME; stepsisters, Katie and Krista Cooley of Falconer, NY; maternal grandmother, Lucy Cole of Jamestown; aunts and uncles: Steve and Cathy Cole of North Carolina, Ellen Weber of Jamestown, Fred and Suzie Cole of Watertown, NY and Jim Cole of Jamestown; as well as cousins: Lydia Caravalho, Larissa Cantanese, Joshua Weber, Lucy Garret, Emily Cole and Brianna Weber. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Willard and Joan Mizner and maternal grandfather, Ronald Cole. A memorial service for Michael will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7th in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paula Cooley, Ellen Weber or Jessica Puglise to help purchase the final resting place for Michael and to help establish a college fund for his son, Michael.
