Obituary of Virginia D. Stahlman

Virginia D. "Ginny" Stahlman, 96, of South Ave., Jamestown, passed away Friday morning, July 6, 2018 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. She was the widow of Harry H. Stahlman whom she married January 21, 1943 and who died December 3, 2004. Virginia was born November 8, 1921 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Edwin and Flavia Gustafson Reed, and was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, she had been employed as a secretary by the T. James Clark Box Co. and by a tool shop in Detroit, Mich. during World War II. She then worked for a time as a cook and waitress at the former Murphy's Department Store. A member of the Church of the Nazarene, Ginny's church life was very important to her. She was previously a Sunday school teacher for the Busti and the Falconer Church of God, as well as active in the Children's Bus Ministry at both churches. She had also been a foster parent. Ginny's church family has always been an essential part of her life. She possessed a strong gift of hospitality and was a wonderful cook and baker. Most importantly, she loved her family deeply and was a staunch prayer warrior for all. She is survived by a daughter, Wendy (Joseph) Tuzzato of Harrisburg, Pa.; three sons: Timothy (Michelle) Stahlman and Thomas (Darlene) Stahlman, both of Jamestown, and Steve Stahlman and his ex-wife, Sharon of Marion, IN; fourteen grandchildren: Benjamin, Meghan and Matthew Hines, Domenico, Gabriella and Giuseppe Tuzzato, Jeremiah and Joshua Stahlman, Jason and Timothy Stahlman, Shawn and Kara Proctor, and Meredith and Nathan Stahlman; nine great-ghrandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Grover of Detroit, MI. In addition to her husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Stahlman and an infant daughter, Christine Stahlman. The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 11th in Jamestown Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Dr. Mark Hanson and the Pastor Timothy Stahlman, will officiate. Burial will be in the Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the 12:00 noon service in the church.
