Obituary of Robert W. Lopus

Robert W. Lopus, 77, formerly of 31A Shirley Lane, died Wednesday August 1, 2018, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. He was born on the family farm in Ashville April 8, 1941, a son of the late Willis and Francis Slayton Lopus. He was a 1959 graduate of Panama Central School and served in the US Air Force from 1960-64. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Precision Tooling as a machinist. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things especially working on clocks. Surviving are three children Cindy Lopus of Eugene, OR, David Lopus of Ashville and Jeffrey (Mary) Lopus of Aberdeen, MD; six grandchildren; a sister Nancy Smith of Jamestown and two brothers Gary Lopus of Sherman and Norman Lopus of Kiantone. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Carol Ellis. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Grant Cemetery, Niobe.
