Obituary of Betty Jean James

Betty Jean Clark James, 90, of Anderson, SC passed away quietly the morning of August 14, 2018 in South Carolina. She was born July 2, 1928 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Carl and Pearl Berdine Clark. Mrs. James was a long-time resident of Ashville, NY and relocated to Anderson, SC in 2010. She graduated from Lakewood High School in 1946 and the Jamestown Practical School of Nursing in 1961. A licensed practical nurse, Mrs. James worked at the Jamestown General Hospital, Fenton Park Nursing Home and retired in 1990 from WCA Hospital. She enjoyed nursing and being with her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband, Alvin L. James whom she married January 25, 1947, having celebrated their 71st anniversary this year. Mrs. James is also survived by her two sons: Richard A. (Joanne) James of Anderson, SC and Edward A. (Lynnette) James of Hamilton, VA.; four grandchildren: Sarah James (Christopher) Koriath of Tucker, GA, Amanda James of Lancaster, OH, Bretta James (Efrain) Barrera of Fairfax, VA, Brady James (Kelley McKew) of Arlington, VA; one great granddaughter, Taylor Barrera; and a sister Marilyn "Peachie" James of Lakewood, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Gerald Clark, and two sisters, Mildred McKee and Dorothy Keelean. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville, NY at a later date.
