Obituary of Daisy Belle Pratt

Daisy Belle Pratt, 92, of Lakewood, New York passed away after an extended illness on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at her home. Daisy was born on January 20, 1926, daughter of Aloysius and Winifred Koterass. She was the final survivor of her nine siblings. Daisy Belle was raised in Sinclairville, New York and graduated from Cassadaga High School. In 1952, Daisy married William M. Pratt of Celoron, New York. They bought their home in Lakewood, New York and raised three children. Daisy's lifelong dream was to become a nurse. This dream was fulfilled when she acquired her LPN in 1970. She worked proudly on the 4th Floor Surgical Unit of Jamestown General Hospital until the hospital closed. Daisy enjoyed doing multiple crafts, especially knitting, crocheting and plastic canvas needlework. Her 'green thumb' was legendary. She was involved in the Girl Scouts with her daughters and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Herman Kent Post 777. Daisy's greatest joy though was her family. She was proud to be a Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother. Her door was always open to anyone in need, family or not. Daisy is survived by her three children, Sherri Towell (Leonard) of Erie, Pennsylvania, Roberta Pratt of Lakewood, New York, and Robert James Pratt (Penny) of Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Bobbi Jean Trask (Sean), William James Pratt (Kelly), Brandi Lee Pratt (Adam), Tami Marie Heintzelman (Clint), Barton Towell (Jenn); eleven great grandchildren, Britani Newhouse, Allissa (deceased), Miranda Cheyenne Newhouse (Scott), Brock William Newhouse, Chloe Heintzelman, Wyett Heintzelman, Owen Heintzelman, Jace Trask, Arlo Towell, Arya Towell, Ayven Towell; and two great great grandchildren, Kiana Rose Newhouse, and Scott Tyler Walters, Jr. Also surviving is Butch Newhouse III. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Childs, pastor of Lakewood United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.
