Obituary of Donald W. Jackson

Donald W. Jackson, 72, of Bemus Point, peacefully went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Saturday October 20, 2018. He was born October 14, 1946 in Clarendon, PA. Don was a proud U. S. Navy Veteran followed by a successful career in manufacturing up until 1996 at Valeo Engine Cooling as the manufacturing manager. He will be deeply missed by his family. He set an incredibly high standard as to what a father and grandfather should be. He was a tremendous example of love, perseverance, and never gave up despite the many challenges he faced. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his grand dogs. Fall was his favorite season and he so enjoyed taking drives looking at all the fall colors. But one of the things he loved most was his post-retirement job of dog sitting his grand puppies Riley and Bella. Surviving are Donna (Jamieson) Jackson, his two sons: Cory Jackson, Craig Jackson; his daughter: Mollie (Scot) Stutzman; his grandchildren are Payten Jackson, Lauren Jackson, Graham Jackson, Logan Stutzman and Reagan Stutzman. His beloved grand dogs: Riley, Bella, Lexi, Tupper and Emma. Also surviving are two brothers: Darby Switzer of Steamboat Springs, CO, John Jackson of Scandia, PA; and four sisters: Thelma Carlson of Russell, PA, Bonnie (Ronald) Sherrard of Warren, PA, Joyce (Levi) Carlstrom of Parkton, MD, and June (Keith) Black of Coweta, OK along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Switzer, mother, June (Snyder) Switzer, his son Brady W. Jackson, and Virginia and Archie Jamieson. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Family Church. The Rev. Timothy Stahlman, pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
