Obituary of M. Elaine Bogey

M. Elaine Bogey, 95, died on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Heritage Park Nursing Home. She was a loving and caring mother and a friend to all. Elaine was born August 13, 1923 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Eric and Louise Gebhardt Johnson. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School, class of 1943. In June of 1944, she married the love of her life, Martin W. Bogey. Jamestown was their home for their entire married life. Martin passed away in June of 1977. Elaine was employed by the former Automatic Voting Machine and later at Lutheran Social Services until her retirement in 1985. Elaine and Martin were active members of the Jamestown Free Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. After her retirement, she enjoyed being actively involved with her church, spending time with her family and friends, and helping others. Elaine was kind, loving and fun-loving. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel (Sandra J.) Bogey and Brian (Sandra K.) Bogey, both of Jamestown, and her daughter, Nancy (Ward) Near of Olean, NY; her nine grandchildren: Timothy Bogey, Deborah (Jeff) Hansen, Sarah Bogey-Chapman, Kristin (Shawn) Seekings, Kathryn Bogey, Jonathan Bogey, Scott (Susan) Near, Karen (Trevor) Moore and Paul Near; as well as fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters and her brother. Elaine's family would like to thank the Heritage Park Nursing Home staff for their outstanding and loving care of their mother. There will be no visitation. Her family will celebrate her life in a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jamestown Free Methodist Church.
