Obituary of Richard P. Furlow

Richard P. Furlow, 69, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 in UPMC Chautauqua. He was born August 1, 1949 in Jamestown, the son of the late Richard A. and Janette Preston Furlow. He was a 1967 graduate of Panama Central School and attended Jamestown Community College. Richard was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1969-71. Before retirement, he worked for Alltel for 41 years. He enjoyed the Buffalo Bills, movies, music, and puzzles and was an avid history buff, especially local history. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Richard is survived by his wife Dorothy M. Barr Furlow, whom he married Sept. 5, 1970; daughters Brenda (Tobias) Whitford and Laura (Christopher) Posey, both of Jamestown; a son Richard E. (Jennie) Furlow of Livonia, NY; seven grandchildren; two sisters Pauline (Skip) Edsall and Regina (Lloyd) Weatherbee; and his beloved dog "Moe". In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son William Albert Furlow in 1974; and two brothers Fredrick and David Furlow. Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. on Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Steamburg Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.
