Obituary of Roger F. Bigney

Roger F. Bigney, 89, of Celoron, NY, passed away at 6:43 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, surrounded by his family. An area resident for most of his life, he was born May 30, 1929 in Luthersburg, PA, a son of the late Floyd and Uvinza Caldwell Bigney. In earlier years he was employed by the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing Company and by the Keebler Company. He will be remembered mostly as a bartender for the former Satellite Bowl and for many years at the Viking Lodge. He was a member of the Thule Lodge 127, VASA Order of America and the Ingjald Lodge 65, Independent order of the Vikings. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, going to the casino and smoking a good cigar. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Charlene Coan Bigney whom he married October 26, 1974, four daughters; Darlene (late John) Allenson of Sugar Grove, PA, Gen (Ed) Potter, Cheryl (Debbie Fleming) Bigney both of Jamestown, Linda (Jerry) McMasters of Ashville, NY, three step-daughters; Kimberly (Mike) Touhey of Bemus Point, NY, Sue (Tom Kane) Cook of Frewsburg, NY, Jeanne (Gale Betts) Kaczar of Greenhurst, NY, a step-son; Michael (Karen) Cook of South Dakota, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a brother; Richard (Pat) Bigney of Harrisburg, PA and his beloved cat "Buster". Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his three brothers; Shirley, Glade and Trevor Bigney, a sister; Theo Mack, his former wife Leona Bigney and his favorite cat "Rascal". In keeping with Roger's wishes, there will be no formal services or visitation observed. Memorials may be made to the Celoron Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 328, Celoron, NY 14720.
