Obituary of James A. Brown

James A. Brown, 96, formerly of 217 Howard Avenue, WE, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Robert D. and Arlene Lawson Brown, and served in the US Army Air Corps as a tail gunner on a B-26, being discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Jim was a pipe fitter and a member of the Pipefitters Local 22 in Buffalo. He had been employed by the former Sans Corporation and then owned, with his late brother, J. A. Brown Mechanical. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. A golfer and member of Jackson Valley Country Club, he belonged to several golf leagues, as well as bowling leagues, and in earlier years was active in area modified and fast pitch softball. Surviving are two daughters: Karen (Lloyd) Frary of Ashville and Kathy Nunn of Jamestown; a son, David (Cindy) Brown of Frewsburg; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn Ruesch of Frewsburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Almgren Brown, whom he married July 6, 1944 and who died October 8, 2010; his brother, Jack A. Brown; son-in-law, Steven R. Nunn; and an infant son, Jeffrey Lynn Brown. 'The family would like to thank the aides and staff at Heritage Green, along with Hospice, for their excellent care of our father.' A private family service will be held in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Kibbe will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
