Obituary of Pollyanna Park

Pollyanna Park, 89, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at her home in Jamestown. She was the widow of Burdette B. "Bud" Park whom she married August 29, 1962 and who died February 23, 2007. A native of Jamestown, she was born March 9, 1929, the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Youngberg Tordoff. Pollyanna was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School and was very proud of having attended her 70th high school reunion in 2017. In earlier years, she was employed as a lab technician by the City of Jamestown for 20 years at General Hospital before becoming a homemaker for her family. She belonged to the former Epworth United Methodist Church where she was active in the Couples group. Polly was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting, knitting, and doing puzzles. For many years she was also the anonymous donor of countless handmade hats, mittens and scarves to the Salvation Army at Christmas time. Additionally, Pollyanna was involved in Alcoholics Anonymous with her husband, Burdette, for many years. Surviving is a nephew, Jeffrey Tordoff of Bemus Point and niece, Linda Hepler of Jamestown; several great- nieces and nephews; and her loving companion, her cat Ling Ling. In addition to her husband, "Bud", Polly was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Foley in 2014; brother, John Tordoff, Sr. in 2004; and nephew, John Tordoff, Jr. in 2006. Following Polly's wishes, a private family graveside service will be held in Lake View Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will not be observed.
