Obituary of Robert C. Walz

Robert C. Walz, 81, of Jamestown, passed away Monday February 4, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 10, 1937 in Jamestown the son of the late Phillip and Betty Trippi Walz. Bob was a US Army veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam. After returning home, he worked for many years at the former 3rd Street Atlantic and Butera's Towing. He was an avid race fan, attending and working the flag at Stateline and Erie Speedways. Bob enjoyed camping, especially at Allegany State Park, going to coffee with friends at Tim Horton's, and doing yard work at his house and helping his neighbors with theirs. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Park Walz; two sons: Phillip Walz of Corcoran, California, and Bruce Walz of Jamestown; a daughter: Jaelyn Laviolette of Lindsay, California; seven grandchildren: Christina Laviolette of Perris, California, Megan (Miguel) Vasquez, Miranda Walz, Robbie Walz, Eric Walz, Jonathon Walz, all of Jamestown; Melissa Walz of Fairlawn, Virginia; and several other grandchildren; one great grandson, Jace Laviolette of Perris, California; a brother, Joseph Walz and a sister, Vonda Walz both of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip "Sonny" Walz, and a sister, Joyce Francis. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Phelps, Hospice Chaplain will officiate along with full military honors. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Friday in the funeral home.
