Obituary of Barbara D. Hart

Barbara D. Hart, 92, formerly of the Panama-Bear Lake Rd., Panama, NY, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2019 in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 4, 1926 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Ernest M. and Ruth Button Dole. Barb was a 1943 graduate of Panama Central School and was a very active member of the Panama United Methodist Church since the 1940's, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Harmony Senior Citizens. Surviving are a son; John T. Hart of Burglengenfeld, Germany; two grandchildren: Daniel Hart of Germany and Amber Lee (Logan) Hart Bemis of Clymer, NY; three great grandchildren: Arleigh Nicole Bemis, Wyatt Logan Bemis and Eric Hart; four foster daughters: Keziah, Jody, Laural and Sally Brady; a sister, Wyona (Lester) Wevers of Panama, NY; two sisters-in-law: Patty Dole and Myrna Dole, both of Panama, NY; five nieces: Barbara, Marcia, Cathy, Dotty and Cynthia; and five nephews: Patrick, Craig, Chuck, Philip and David. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Hart whom she married May 4, 1946 in the family home in Panama, and who died October 2, 1990; her step-mother, Dorothy Ewing Dole; two brothers, Ernest Donald Dole and Charles N. Dole; and a foster-son, Jesse Brady. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6th, in the Panama United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steven Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Panama Union Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
