Obituary of Betty C. Nelson

Betty C. Nelson, 93, formerly of Avalon Blvd., passed away Thursday July 11, 2019 in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born August 22, 1925 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Lewis and Ariel Mainwaring Chamberlin. Betty was a 1943 graduate of the former Celoron High School. Prior to retirement, she worked at Bigelow's for 33 years, and later for Dr. Tamsin Pope. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, the Celoron Historical Society, Celoron/West Ellicott Senior Citizens, and the Neighborhood Club. She is survived by her son, William (Mary) Nelson of Reno, NV; a granddaughter, Cory (Matt) Pies of London, UK; a grandson, Michael (Morgan) Nelson of Sacramento, CA; two great grandchildren, Evalyn and Amelia Nelson; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Nelson whom she married September 17, 1949 and who died November 14, 1968; her son Daniel B. Nelson who died March 8, 2010; and three brothers, Clare, Howard, and Gerald Chamberlin. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
