Obituary of Clarence Edson Ernewein

Clarence E. "Ed" Ernewein, 90, of Old Fluvanna Road, Jamestown, NY passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing in Gerry, NY. Clarence was born on August 21, 1928, in Jamestown, the son of the late Valentine and Opal Edson Ernewein. He attended Love Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High and was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. He was veteran of the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict (October 16, 1950 - October 15, 1952) and was a member of The American Legion (Ira Lou Spring Post No. 149). Clarence had been employed by Automatic Voting Machines in Jamestown and subsequently Signore in Ellicottville before retiring in 1993. He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Joan Riehle Ernewein, whom he married May 16, 1951 and who passed away on February 28, 2008; and his son, David (Nancy) Ernewein who died on September 26, 2014. Clarence is survived by four children: his son Craig Ernewein of Albion, N.Y., his daughter Gloria (Sam) Guarino of Buffalo, N.Y., his son Paul Ernewein of Jamestown, N.Y., and his daughter Carol (Dean) Martin of Jamestown, N.Y.; daughter-in-law Nancy (David) Ernewein of Jamestown, N.Y.; his sister Norma Sharp of Casselberry Fl.; eight grandchildren: Kerri Ernewein of Hingham, MA., Shaun Ernewein of Rochester, N.Y., Michael Riolo of Olean, N.Y., Christopher Riolo of Jamestown, N.Y., Kelly (Daniel) Stilson of Clearfield PA., Katie (Brian) Simonds of Bradford, PA., Jessie Ernewein of Jamestown, N.Y., Jamie Ernewein of Wauchula, Fl., Dean Martin III of Jamestown, N.Y., and Daniel Martin of Jamestown, N.Y.; and four great grandchildren: Peyton Simonds of Bradford, PA.; Isaac Simonds of Bradford, PA.; Isaiah Simonds of Bradford, PA.; and Elijah Simonds of Bradford, PA. The love, generosity and prayers that were shown to Clarence and his family are greatly appreciated during this very difficult time. Friends and family will be received in the Lind Funeral Home on Sunday, August 18th from 1 to 3 p.m., with a funeral service to follow immediately at 3 p.m., officiated by Deacon Daniel J. Tyler.
