Obituary of Freda A. Palmer

Freda A. Palmer, 86, of Lakewood, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in the Warren Manor, Warren, Pa.

She was born on April 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Bertram and Ethel Fitzjohn Watson in Whittlesey, England.

She was a graduate of Westwood House School in Peterborough and Mrs. Hosters Secretarial College in London, England.

Freda was employed as a Secretary for Selection Trust Company in London, England and J.P. Hall Company, Peterborough, England. She then came to the United States on February 15, 1960. She was employed by the Southwestern School District for 31 years as an aide retiring in June of 2006. She had also worked at Jamesway for seven years.

She attended the Lakewood United Methodist Church and was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary where she had served as Secretary twice and a Trustee. She was also a member of the Harmony Senior Citizens.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting for her grandchildren and was always busy sewing for friends, neighbors, and others.

Freda is survived by her husband, Arvid O. Palmer; two sons: David V. (Diane) Palmer of Yardley, Pa. and John B. (Cynthia) Palmer of Lakewood; a daughter Carol A. (Matthew) Walker of Belleview, FL; five grandchildren: Nicholas and Alexander Palmer both of Yardley, Pa, Morgan Palmer of Lakewood, Bailey and Bryce Walker both of Belleview, FL; and a niece Julie Pantmelyn of Wales.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Vera Goodwin of England.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in the Lakewood United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until noon, for one hour prior to the service in the church.
