Obituary of Linda L. Lawson

Linda L. Lawson, 61, of Charlotte, NC and Ashville, NY, passed away on November 21, 2019 at the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Jamestown following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 30, 1958 in Jamestown the daughter of David and Claire Carlson Crawford. Linda will be remembered as a sweet and caring person always with a smile on her face. She graduated as co-Salutatorian from Panama Central School in 1976 and received the DAR Good Citizen's Award and Ada May Brown Scholarship for academic scholarship and student involvement. She graduated from Houghton College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Psychology in 1980. She received her Master of Science Degree in Reading Education in 1985 from Elmira College. Linda taught school at Haverling Central School, Randolph Central School, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Most recently she was a day care teachers' assistant at Tega Cay Children's Academy and Carolina Kids, retiring due to ill health in May 2019. Linda is survived by her son Tanner J. Lawson of Huntersville, NC; her parents of Ashville, NY; her sisters Vicki (Jerry) Costantini and Wendy Crawford, both of Jamestown, NY; nephews Kevin (Alla) Costantini and Scott (Julie) Costantini; nieces Erin (Matt) Carnes and Shannen (James) Colton; great nephews Landon and Riley Carnes and Corbin, Mason, and Crew Costantini, Zephrin Colton; uncle Clare (Beverly) Crawford; and several cousins including David (Tanya) Guignon and Richard (Mary Anne) Guignon. She was preceded in death by her son Tyler J. Lawson; her sister Lori King and brother-in-law Terry King; her grandparents Martin and Betty Carlson and Warland and Audrey Crawford; her great aunt Ann Peterson; her aunt Betty Ann and uncle Larry Guignon; and uncle Warland "Bud" Crawford. A special thanks to Mary Ann Bentz, Connie King and Cheryl Bailey for their loving care of Linda. Also, thanks to the nurses, aides and physical therapists for taking care of her while she was a patient at Heritage Park Nursing Home and her many friends in both New York and North Carolina. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday November 26, 2019 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Cook, retired pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday November 25 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Lakewood Memorial Library, 12 W. Summit St, Lakewood, NY 14750; or James Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St, Jamestown, NY 14701; or Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
