Obituary of Mary C. Grassi

Mary C. Grassi, 92, formerly of Connecticut Avenue, Jamestown, died Saturday January 4, 2020, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 19, 1927, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Moccia Sabino. She was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish St. John Catholic Church, member of Westside Women's Club and volunteered at WCA Hospital and at various church activities. Surviving are two daughters Kathryn Moore of Jamestown and Marie Wood of Raleigh , NC; seven grandchildren Jessica Moore of Phoenix, AZ, George J. Moore of Jamestown, Melissa Lyon and David Caronia both of Raleigh, NC, Jason Grassi of Magdalena, Mexico, Janelle Eisenmann of Austin, TX and Clayton Grassi of Edwards, IL; three great grandchildren Isabella and Rory Moore of Jamestown and Ella Lyon of Raleigh; daughter in law Cheryl Grassi of Edwards, IL and a brother Sam (Marilyn) Sabino of Jamestown. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Salvatore Grassi, whom she married April 14, 1951 and who died February 8, 2009; two sons John and James Grassi; two sons in law David Caronia and George Moore and three brothers Patsy, John and Nicholas Sabino. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday January 17, 2020, in St. John Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis W. Mende will be celebrant. Inurnment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Thursday January 16, 2020 in the Lind Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. You may leave words of condolence at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
