Obituary of Nandor Maurer

Nandor Maurer, 96, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Heritage Park Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing in Jamestown. Nandor was the son of the late Nandor and Maria Schneider Maurer. Born March 4, 1923 in Budapest, Hungary, he and his family left Hungary for Salzburg, Austria at the end of WWII. For a short time he worked at a US Army supply depot. While in Salzburg he met his wife, Margaret, and they were married on October 18, 1947. In 1958 they immigrated to the United States to start a new life. Nandor was a machinist and lathe operator who worked for several years at Rane Tool Division. After a strike closed the shop, he finished his career at Producto Machine, Ring Punch Division, retiring in 1988. He greatly loved being outdoors and could always be found tending to his garden and the many plants and trees around the yard. He was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Nandor is survived by his son-in-law, Dave Youngren and grand-daughter, Kirsten Youngren. Preceding him in death was his wife Margaret, who died Aug. 16, 2019, and daughter, Margaret Youngren, who died Dec. 8, 2019. At the request of the family, visitation will not be observed. A memorial service will held at a later date.
